I’ve mentioned before about how Cabernet seems to get all the attention when it comes to the Coonawarra wine region. Shiraz is definitely the poor cousin.
It will surprise many to know that the grapes for this wine came from vines that are about 40 years old. Yep, and that’s something that even surprised me!
This is all about generosity, grace and elegance. No two ways about it.
There’s a nice mix of red and (mainly) dark berries but then it becomes so soft and smooth and silky and scrumptious. The finish is a bit dryish but the generous amount of fruit fixes that and it doesn’t detract from the wine that is wrapped in a ridiculously cheap $20 package.
I thoroughly enjoyed this wine and it pains me to admit to not having any. At $20 a bottle it’s not going to be difficult to remedy that situation.
