2018 Beresford Estate Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine labels love a fancy title. With all due respect, when you see some that are dressed up with words like ‘Limited Release’, ‘Reserve’, and ‘Winemaker’s Selection,’ sometimes it feels like every second bottle is trying to convince you it’s the chosen one. Sometimes you’re left wondering whether the wine is genuinely special. It’s not that the terms aren’t justified, I’m sure they are. Let’s just say, at times, they get a bit of a workout.

However, more often than not you crack a bottle where the title is actually earned. This Beresford’s Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those. The fruit is serious, the winemaking detail is spot‑on, and the bottles look like they are hand‑numbered which is a nice touch. The kind of touch that tells you this wasn’t just another run down the bottling line. On this occasion, the “Limited Release” badge isn’t just decoration. It’s deserved.

Live simply. Laugh often. Wine a lot.

The nose leads with black fruits, think blackberries, dark plums and a gentle touch of spice and herbs. It’s fresh, inviting and beautifully expressive. The palate is rich and generous, driven by abundant blackcurrant fruit that carries the wine from start to finish. Vanilla oak adds a nice, subtle sweetness, while black cherry and black plum fill out the mid‑palate with ease. Full‑bodied yet lush, everything sits in balance. Chalky tannins are wrapped comfortably in all that fruit, giving texture without interrupting the flow across the palate. Excellent length, and simply a lovely, lovely wine.
