2021 Slow Wine Co. Blanc de Blanc

There’s something about this Orange Region sparkling wine that makes me pause and think, where have you been all my wine-drinking life?! Maybe it’s the altitude, maybe it’s the patience, maybe it’s just that cool‑climate calm feeling that seems to seep into every glass, or maybe it’s simply all of the above working together. Either way, this Blanc de Blancs from Slow Wine Co has all of that and I need to drink more of it.

In the glass, a fine consistent bead rises, and, with a swirl comes a lift of mouth‑watering apple and lemon citrus, the kind that wakes up the olfactory senses so easily. Give it a moment and the lees work starts to show with a hint of brioche and a gentle biscuity note.

On the palate, it’s crisp, bright and refreshingly inviting. Think pears, grapefruit and citrus fruits with a lovely line of acidity. Four years on lees has added depth and richness without a weightiness. It’s still very much a wine of purity and vibrancy, finishing long, clean, and moreish enticing you back for another sip before you realise you’ve done it.

A beautifully made Blanc de Blancs that captures what Orange does so well: clarity, patience, and flavour delivered without fuss.
